Hackathons

In October 2012, Alameda County launched its Data Sharing Initiative. ITD supports the initiative with innovative approaches to increase citizen engagement and promote government transparency.

One of those approaches is hosting hackathons. On December 8th, 2012, the first ever Alameda County Apps Challenge kicked off without a hitch at the Castro Valley Library. With 120 participants, 24 apps, and 3 awesome winners we all agreed ACApps Challenge 2012 was a huge success. Since then, we have organized 4 more hackathons with even greater success
